Moorings

Just spent 3 days with this view just past Strines Aqueduct. We were along the upper Peak Forest canal and found this spot with just room for one boat amongst tall reeds, no they are not reeds in the picture but Jaq`s roof top  herb garden.
We entered Whaley Bridge with the intention of visiting Tesco and staying the night and making a train trip into Buxton. We ended up mooring in a section near the basin marked Permanent moorings that was empty. This was next to the visitor moorings(room for 4 boats) but only one today as per the picture below they have all collapsed into the water.
Anyone tell me the difference between Long Term and Permanent as in the picture above.

So we just carried on into Bugsworth Basin where there were plenty of moorings.

Les & Jaq,
Bugsworth - one of my very favourite moorings. Sorry I should have warned you that for at least 2 years there has only been room for one boat at Whaley Bridge "visitors Moorings".
Trying to get our act together to head for the boat and the Macc/Peak Forest this weekend or early next week.
Hope to see you both very soon.

Hi both, the mooring terms permanent and long term have always confused me as like you I really can’t see the difference - unless permanent really means residential in which case the moored should pay council tax and long term means that they must move from their mooring for at least a certain amount of time per year - but who knows!!!

Hi Ken/Sue
It was 2009 when I was last up here.
Look forward to seeing you both soon. We have a few things to sort out along the way but more of that when we meet.

Hi Carol
You could be right. Perhaps I should ask the wagon, oops I mean CART.
Funny folk can`t get into olympic park without a ticket for an event but then I think the ticketing has been badly set up.
