Free at Last, Free at Last!

We are pleased to report that as of 3:30 this afternoon NB Valerie is moored up on the towpath! There was a break in the wind gusts and the spot we wanted  just outside the marina entrance was available. I knew we needed to make a break for it or bad weather might trap us in the marina through the weekend.
We topped up our water, Les brought in plenty of well seasoned wood, filled the coal bucket and we received a Tesco order. Our electric cords are packed away, the T.V. antenna is set up, and the batteries are well charged. A pot of homemade Spaghetti sauce is bubbling away on the stove top and a loaf of freshly baked rye bread is cooling on the counter.  Most importantly Les has his sparkle back again and he is taking the P out me at every opportunity.
My best beloved is healing well, AND it is snowing!!! What more could a good Alaskan woman and a well loved British water gypsy want??? Farmed salmon no more--we are wild again!! Woot!

  1. Well done you. I am concerned I won't be able to get my boat out of the Marina this weekend. Annoyingly an early escape was not an option for me due to work commitments and now that it has snowed I might have missed my opportunity anyway - down side of not actually being on the boat at this time!

  2. A wise decision Les and Jaq and I am so pleased you have escaped! It was wonderful to see you both yesterday.

Stay safe and warm and enjoy spreading your wings. Jennie and Chris

  8. Sounds like it is time to allow the snowbear to run free once again down the towpath directing NB Valerie and her occupants on better things for the future.

While I understand marina life isn't for everyone, you have to admit cowroast is very well kept and staffed, and it did you a good turn whilst you were getting better.

  14. Thanks everyone. The marina was good as they go but it`s served it`s purpose and we are very grateful.

  15. Glad you are gone. In my 12 years of life aboard I have never come across a women who was so rude and miserable.
I never understand someone when you say good morning too, ignores you and gives you a dirty look. Hard to understand your grievances with Cowroast Marina too when it's clean, tidy and the staff are so friendly. Pete is great and very helpful and Darren and Natalie in the Chandlery can never do enough for you!! Just goes to show how rude horrible people think the world is horrible too.
The marina is better place without you - good riddance

What a strange one you are. All the staff at the marina are brilliant, where have we said otherwise.
While there we spoke and got on ok with plenty of folk.
We praised Pete in our posts and Darren we have known well for many years. Natalie was most helpful getting bits and pieces.
Even though you remain annon you stick out like a sore thumb amongst the many decent people in that marina.
Anyway thanks for the laugh as we don`t get many humorous comments.

Also while in the marina we were taken out and about several times by boaters and invited out to a birthday party and to the pub several times. So it seems a lot of the locals got on well with us. Readers of our blog who have met us are probably wondering who the hell you are talking about.
Oh well I wish you well anyway because that`s the way I am, normal.
