While I understand the Nicholson's Guides have not actually been updated inside for awhile now, I have purchased numbers 3 and 4 and there are about four marinas in them which are not in my 17 years old Nicholsons.
I simply cannot do one more thing electronically at this point in my life. all my banking, personal correspondence, Skype calls to family, blog posts, and book rough draft is done online. I am sick to death of being on the computer and I want to hold something in my hand and dwell on it for awhile, and make notes in the margins like Les did in the old Guides. I know Pauls' Canal maps are brilliant but they don't work for my needs. I also have dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalcula. Writing wit one hand is manageable but typing with tow is fraught with errors and takes me hours to review, edit, and find my errors to fix--which makes leaving flags and notes about canal related things on Waterways Routes maps a frustrating under-taking; all my fault and none to P Balmer's brilliant program and apps.

I hope you, Joe and the boys are well. I miss your blog!!!

Jaq xxx Mrs. Jaqueline Biggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248541763708771727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11311723.post-2998886980999314942017-08-23T15:44:32.533+00:002017-08-23T15:44:32.533+00:00Paul,

Many boaters prefer electronics to paper and some are facile enough to manage an electronic device while cruising, but I am not. Doing everything on my own really requires me to give my full attention to the boat and the canal. I am dyslexic and find it difficult to stare at a small screen app. I am also one of those people who prefers paper.

Interesting hearing from you now in regard to this issue and your product when I heard nothing from you when Les died--not even the simplest of condolences, which surprised me greatly.

JaquelineMrs. Jaqueline Biggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248541763708771727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11311723.post-60442548514328255862017-08-23T13:00:48.383+00:002017-08-23T13:00:48.383+00:00Hi Christine,

I am very mindful of such issues as the boat safety examiner required Les to enlarge the ventilation holes in our bow doors in 2012. Apparently the boat builder never bothered to drill any vent holes in the doors when it was built in 2006. The ventilation screens were just screwed in for looks? So Les had to drill holes through the doors for real ventilation. The examiner said in 2012 that the holes needed to be larger so Les did enlarge them and everything passed the 2016 boat safety inspection. I also have a carbon monoxide alarm fitted and I always keep certain windows open summer and winter.

Cheers,

Jaq xxxMrs. Jaqueline Biggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248541763708771727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11311723.post-42138282321170934602017-08-23T12:50:06.035+00:002017-08-23T12:50:06.035+00:00Hi Jaq

Seems like a total waste of resources to me.

a lot of water has flowed pas us both since we met in early 2012. It is my pleasure to have met you and Keith and to count you both as friends. Les so enjoyed time spent in your company as did I. It will be lovely indeed to see you and David again and hopefully have more than a day or so to catch up before you are off again in the other direction.

Yep, less stress is better and doing everything on my own takes a certain level of concentration and thought I didn't have to muster with Les at my side so I find myself knackered after a morning of moving.

See you both soon!

Love Jaq xxx Mrs. Jaqueline Biggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248541763708771727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11311723.post-3109728548480832772017-08-23T12:41:58.061+00:002017-08-23T12:41:58.061+00:00Hi Sparkala

It is a comfort knowing you are out there somewhere albeit 7000 miles away following along and keeping track of your old ma. I hae no choice about accomplishing things on my own. I am on my own. I've never felt so alone in my life which is due to having lived cheek-to-cheek with Da for six years and sharing everything.

Life is more aboard is more manageable up here on the narrow northern canals and the countryside is spectacular. Les and I both loved it up here.

I love you to the end of the universe--and back again.

Mamma xxxMrs. Jaqueline Biggshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14248541763708771727noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11311723.post-88445180160078841242017-08-23T12:37:18.525+00:002017-08-23T12:37:18.525+00:00Hi Arthur,
